Easy Summertime Drink Recipes
August 22, 2020A nice, cool, summertime drink is always welcome, whether in the heat of the day or an evening cool-down as the sun begins to set. We’ve compiled some of our favorite country drink recipes for you to try.
Sun Tea
Making sun tea is easy. All it requires is a large pitcher with a lid, tea, water, and sunshine. That’s it. To make sun tea, fill your pitcher 75% full and add up to eight tea bags per gallon of water. If you have a smaller container, use fewer tea bags. Screw on the lid, and place the container outside in direct sunlight for two to three hours. Serve over ice.
Sweet Sun Tea
If sun tea is just a little too bland for your taste, you’re not alone. Country folk across America have long praised the wonders of sweet sun tea. To make yours, use cold water to fill up your large pitcher with a lid, add up to eight tea bags per gallon of water, and then screw on the lid and let it sit in the sun for up to three hours. Once it’s done brewing, pull out the tea bags and add a cup of sugar per gallon of water. Stir well. Serve over ice in a tall glass.
Country Lemonade
To make a tart yet sweet and tasty glass of country lemonade, you’ll need six lemons, one cup of white sugar, six cups of cold water, and a pitcher. First, wash your lemons, then cut them in half to extract 1 cup of juice. Combine the lemon juice, water, and sugar and stir. Finally, add the rinds to the pitcher for a bit of lemon pizazz. Serve over ice.
Iced Coffee
Sure, you can make your way to the local coffee shop and spend a bundle on a glass of iced coffee, or you can make it yourself in minutes. First, make a pot of your favorite coffee (or single-serving coffee), and allow it to cool to room temperature. Then, add ice to a tall glass and fill halfway with your liquid caffeine. Now, add your favorite creamer, milk, or milk substitute and stir. Finally, add a few tablespoons of sugar or simple syrup for a hint of sweet.
Pasture Patty Milkshake
All you need for this fun and yummy creation are four large scoops of vanilla ice cream, a quarter-cup of milk, whipped topping, and chocolate sauce. Chocolate sprinkles are a nice touch as well. Add your ice cream, chocolate sauce, and milk to a blender and pulverize the mixture. Once combined, pour into a glass, add whipped topping and your sprinkles. For extra points, add a cherry on top.
